WORK EXPERIENCE Janet is an author and nationally recognized speaker to business, professional and community organizations and conferences on the topic of Soul Leadership. She has written seven books. Her first book, The Inventurers: Excursions in life and Career Renewal, (co-authored) has been in print for twenty-three years. Real Power reflects her interest in personal power and soul leadership. The Critical Journey (co-authored) chronicles the journey of spirituality throughout our lives. The Silent Witness Story (co-authored) speaks forcefully against domestic violence. Wrestling with Your Angels describes the spirituality of the writing process. Results 2000 reports the current status of domestic violence reduction in the United States. And John Knox Coit, a biography is a tribute to a college professor who was very special in her life. She has also written several chapters for books and numerous articles. Currently Janet is directing the Silent Witness National Initiative, a movement whose goal is to reduce domestic violence murders to 0 by the year 2010. As director of Silent Witness she lead a march in Washington DC which attracted participants from all fifty states and eight other countries. Janet was active in the field of career and organizational development for sixteen years. During these years, she was a founder of two companies, established programs for career renewal in fortune 500 corporations, and taught around the world. Clients of hers include: 3M, Ecolab Inc., Unisys, US Bank, General Mills, Land O' Lakes, Dr Pepper, Kellogg, Gillette Company, Honeywell, Governor of Minnesota, Alcoa. Her other work experiences include family counseling, university teaching, university administration, and human ecology. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT Janet is dedicated to broad community service including over twenty five years of active board membership as well as fourteen years of volunteer service with women inmates. She was charter president of Minnesota Women in Higher Education, co-founder of the Career and Adult Development Network, and chair of Leadership Minneapolis. She has received several community achievement awards including an outstanding achievement award from the Minnesota Career Development Association, an Amigas award from the Peacepower Foundation and two Outstanding Alumni Achievement Awards from the University of Minnesota. EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND Janet attended St. Olaf College and the University of Minnesota, obtaining a BA degree and a Master of Social Work degree. She has completed all of her course work towards a Ph.D. in Adult Development. In addition, she is a certified spiritual director. INTERESTS AND PHILOSOPHY Her interests include travel, walking, reading, sports and fast cars. Her philosophy of life is "if you don't learn how to laugh at yourself, sooner or later someone else will."
