Janet is an author, mentor and healer. Her calling is to invite people into the inner spiritual life through her writing, art, poetry and the sharing of her own story. She carries out this calling with compassion, vulnerability and humor. In her writing and her life, Janet is a bridge; a caring connection between the sacred and secular, between people of differing religious traditions, and between people of different races and creeds.

Her work in the world is as diverse as teaching leadership at the University of Minnesota, working with refugees on a healing journey, mentoring “twenty somethings,” exploring the role of restorative justice programs in mending communities, teaching about the inner life and doing spiritual direction with people in the inner city. Janet sponsors a network whose purpose is to support and certify people to teach and live the principles in her books, Real Power and The Critical Journey. The network now supports people worldwide who are interested in living and leading from their souls. Recently, Janet wrote another book on the inner life, called Living into the Light, an e-Book available on her web site. She has also created a set of sacred images (icons) and scriptural discernment cards that draw people closer to their spiritual core.

Janet is the recipient of several awards including the Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award from the University of Minnesota. She has a BA, an MSW in Social Work, has all coursework completed towards a Ph. D. and is a certified spiritual director. Her current interests include reading, baseball, quilting, walking and tango dancing. She lives in her nest on the banks of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis.
